    📆 Movie, Date & Showtime: April 22nd at 17:30 !

This month’s cinema night will feature an important documentary focusing on the infamous Oka Crisis. This confrontation between the Mohawk people of Oka, near Montreal, and state security forces, which eventually led to the intervention of the Canadian Army, has now become an episode embedded in Canadian society’s collective consciousness.

The documentary, Kanehsatake: 270 ans de résistance, situates this critical episode of tension between Quebec’s Indigenous peoples and the national government within the broader history of colonization and Indigenous political struggle for the recognition of their ancestral rights. As such, this month’s screening aims to highlight one of the most important and often overlooked political dynamics of Quebec society.

Kanehsatake: 270 years of resistance (1993): The screening will start at 18h00! It will be shown in English with French Subtitles.

Please note, registration is limited to 22 people, so be sure to reserve your spot early!

    📍 Location: The Refugee Centre – 2107 St. Catherine W, Floor 1, Montreal, H3H 1M6
